28th May 2009,Thursday

Today my groupmates and i decided to start our CAS project. We met up in the late afternoon and we have the whole lab to ourselves! :D
But to our dismay, we encountered difficulties logging in as the login procedures were not easy to understand. Tried calling some tutors for help but apparently they had all gone home. It was rather demoralising as we couldn't even log in -.-

Fortunately, after millions of attempts, we finally managed to log in! yay! :D:D
It was already late at night and we decided to just complete the chart of accounts before we call it a day. Besides, we had to study for our mid semester tests next week. We reckoned that it will put our mind at ease since we already started the project. (:

10th June 2009,Wednesday

It's our 2nd meeting today! However, my groupmates have decided to start from scratch due to some errors we have made in our previous meeting. ):
However, unity is strength! It was not much of a problem for us to start all over again as there so many of us here (: We continued with entering of the opening balances and the recurring entries. We were clueless about the recurring entries initially as we were unsure of whether it should be entered or not. After probing other coursemates in the lab, we were told that there wasn't a need to. However, towards the end of the day, we decided to go ahead and key the recurring entries in after much logical discussion.

We decided to give ourselves a 1 week break and our next meeting day will be on the 17th!
Happy holidays! :D

17th June 2009, Friday

Today was our 3rd project meeting. We breezed through the setup of Accounts Receivables and Accounts Payable, followed by entering the GL Transactions. It took us a while to figure out the double entries for the source documents and decided on the entries that should be allocated to the GL. Unfortunately, we made some errors in the beggining of this procedure and ended up restarting the whole process. We were frustrated for a while but decided that we should remain our composure in order to refrain from making any more mistakes. I am glad that we managed to remain free from errors after putting in extra effort in ensuring that everything is on the right track.

18th June 2009,Thursday
Holidays are coming to an end! And I have already devoted about half of my holidays to school work and projects. Had breakfast with Baoyi in the morning to give the day a good start.
We continued with the GL journal entries as well as the recurring entries. Keying them and ensuring that they are correct may seem like an easy task. But when there are so many source documents to handle, it becomes a pain in the neck for all of us ): we had to ensure that we did not overlooked any important details or any other possible mistakes we could have made.

However, we took turns to do the typing and finally entered them all. YAY! :D
Had a filling lunch with Bao Yi again and we returned to the freezing lab to continue embarking on our exciting ACCPAC journey~ We worked through the AR and AP modules and within a blink of an eye, it was already 9pm! I headed off for a really late dinner with pengxiang and some of our coursemates who also worked till late that day.

19th June,2009

I woke up with a throbbing headache and a slight fever. As a result, i couldn't make it for our project meeting. I deeply apologised for that. ):

24th June 2009,Wednesday,Cooling Afternoon

It's now our CAS lab session with our tutor around to assist us in our project. I have painstakingly completed the GL journal entry form which consists of more than 2 dozens of entries to be entered. My poor fingers were so stiff after keying them in. Pengxiang and Bao yi helped to complete the rest of the forms when I had left.

25th June 2009, Thursday, Breezy Evening

HI! I am still in school enjoying the lab's air conditioning and the company of my beloved CAS groupmates. Pengxiang have been entertaining me while i do all the tedious editing of our answers to the theory questions for the project. His poor CAS textbook have been flipped so frequently that it is already in the risk of being in a dog ear condition. We realised that we made mistakes in our recurring entries but we didn't panicked! we remained our composure and rectified the error. Phew, no worries! :D

1st June 2009, Wednesday
We had our chat session followed by our usual project session again.

7th July 2009, Tuesday
We decided to have an online discussion today! we were really productive within that one hour spent online in the comfort of our own homes (despite pengxiang panicking over his lost APEL portfolio all of a sudden-.-) . Buried our heads in our textbooks looking for information for reference. I got the gist of the overall discussion and elaborated on our report which was rather brief initially. GOOD! (: we are now more or less done with our theory!

9th July,2009 Thursday
Today after much enquries we figured out how to include the void cheques. So after doing that we decided that it's time to print our reports! we totally underestimated the amount of paper we needed. Initally we only bought $1 worth of plain paper. However,in the midst of printing the first few reports, we ran out of supplies-.-
Pengxiang became the hero and returned with a 500 pieces pack of paper! No worries now! we have plenty of supplies.

To our utter dismay, just when we reached the last few reports, we realised that our I&E statements did not contain any amount at all! There must have been a mistake somewhere but it was already late so we decided to call it a day and correct the problem tomorrow.

Left the school at 8 going 9 after printing the reports. it was a tedious chore! ):

13th July, Monday

Pengxiang was ill today and didn't turn up for school. Even with one man down, we continue our battle~
wanjun, weeteng and i went to hunt for CAS tutors to help us with the problems we encountered. Many thanks to Mr Koh for his patience while teaching us how to modify the macros in Excel to rectify the errors that caused our I&E statement to be wrong.

What went wrong????!

We had no idea why did we decided to have "itchy fingers" to change the account numbers instead of following the book :X
but oh well, the problem's solved! ~

16th July, Thursday
Pengxiang's back! now we are back in full armour!~ :D
So we wrapped up all the missing bits and pieces and tied up all the loose ends. Finally printed everything needed and painstakingly sticked on the labels for the various reports so that Ms yeo will have a easier time going through it. Now our project is so colorful! :D

Our final report was so thick, i think we have killed a few trees :X

I am glad that the 'ordeal' was finally gone! Am very glad to have supportive and fun groupmates to work with. All these times eating chocolates and sweets while doing the project to keep our spirits high, pengxiang telling us funny things to lighten the mood, the frustrations when the printers went bonkers and kept printing the same pages, scolding the computers when the systems kept having errors!

Another issue which hindered our progress was the computers in lab 9. parts of our reports keep going missing when we use the computers there. We were so peeved! however, when we switched to computers in lab8, they worked perfectly fine. what is this!! *angryyyyyy*

Overall, it was a great experience with the groupmates. Yay! :D
